Building Local Teams & Creating Eco-Oases
Real change happens when local people are equipped and empowered.
The Model
Form a core team of high-school students, community members, and local experts
Partner with a landscape architect and permaculture specialist
Design solutions for specific problem areas (flooding, blight, poor soil, etc.)
Use free materials (tree trimmings, yard waste, cardboard, food scraps)
Build the projects together
Train participants so they can co-lead the next project and eventually lead independently
What This Creates
Immediate environmental improvements
A pipeline of “Disaster Avoidance Experts”
Stronger community pride and skills
Living Eco-Oases that produce food, habitat, clean water, and resilience
Long-term cost savings for the city and residents
