Community Asset Management

Community’s Assets: It’s Richness & Ecological Resources

Manage them with respect & they pay back 10x

A community’s richness & beauty has a lot to do with its natural resources

Manage them ethically & you create paradise

From waste management to Eco-oasis

  • Dream it

It all begins with an idea.

Assess the geography, consult & plan.

How to solve the problem using resources we already have or were going to throw away, to spend as little as possible, using genius, and in most cases, primitive, time-tested but forgotten methods.

  • Build it

Lay the groundwork structure & design plan using free, sourced resources, previously thought of as waste management.

Experts in their field will teach the Disaster Avoidance Team students and coordinate the project days.

  • Grow it

Vision is to empower local youth and community members to learn the whole scope of the process to co-lead a project on their own.

This structure creates an opportunity to replicate completion of these projects exponentially, as it builds the individuals’ confidence and skillset to become successful in an impactful, niche career.

Exponential impact & fulfillment while literally solving world hunger.

Yard waste can be collected and used in hügelkultur beds and disaster avoidance projects
arborist wood chips can be used in so many ways, from hügelkultur beds to mulch and horse paths or mushroom substrate
Food waste and Bokashi compost
Tree trimmers and arborist waste becomes an asset
reuse cardboard in huglekultur beds
worms and worm castings
replenished, fertile soil
compost
Oyster Mushrooms break down pollution in water and soil
Kombucha SCOBY can be used to inoculate tea-soaked substrate for cleaning waterways
Foundry and smelting cans and metal work
compost tea liquid fertilizer from food scraps or yard waste soaking in water

KEEP COMMUNITY ASSETS

IN THE COMMUNITY

  • Win-wins

    • Free local drop-off days for projects

    • Long-term collection can generate multiple new streams of income

    • If a city doesn’t already collect yard waste & tree materials, it should

    • Valuable resource for disaster avoidance & flood-water prevention projects

    • Used in hügelkultur & permaculture berms, wood chip and trail mulch, compost, mushrooms, vermiculture & worm castings

    • Used in flood control & soil remediation when creating food forest gardens

    • Eliminates tonnage from landfill or giving to neighboring cities

    • A perfect substrate to fix root-cause-problems

    • Builds healthy, fertile soil

    • Source for Hollow Log Hives

    • Biochar - Permaculture & food forests

    • High-end furniture & artwork

  • Microbe-multipliers

    • Mushrooms love cardboard & worms love mushrooms

    • Creates air pockets and worm bedding in permaculture & hügelkultur projects. Breaks up clay and retains moisture

    • Essential for erosion and stormwater disaster avoidance plans

    • Creates beautiful, functional projects & necessary for mushrooms, worms, compost, & castings

  • Feeding the soil, not the landfill

    • If we don’t grab it, someone else is will but you won’t benefit

    • Eliminates the bulk of what goes into the landfill

    • When food ends up in the landfill, the soil is contaminated - when we capture it before, it can build & heal our soil

    • Collect in various ways - bokashi composting, large containers, or buried in trenches

    • Collect your own scraps for neighbors with gardens

    • Fantastic green fertilizer for compost or to feed your soil

    • Bulk fills the bottom of raised beds (add some cardboard and food scraps for even better results) cover with planting soil

    • Mushroom substrate

    • Compost tea for fertilizer

    • Collect & use for disaster avoidance projects and hügelkultur beds

    • Call for good, usable plants when thinning or yard waste pickup - use in disaster avoidance projects & permaculture food forest beautifucation
